What is ‘Diversity in Data Science’?

You may or may not have heard this name floating around. Diversity in Data Science is an organization created and led by several past co-chairs of the WiDS Puget Sound conference. It is registered as a charity in the state of Washington, and we are in the process of applying for 501c3 status.

What does Diversity in Data Science do?

Diversity in Data Science manages the financial dealings on behalf of the team that organizes WiDS Puget Sound.

How IS it Different from Wids Puget sound?

While WiDS Puget Sound is a grassroots team of volunteers who collaborate for a cause, Diversity in Data Science is a legal entity. Registering as a charity was a necessary step to perform some of the vital functions for the conference, like creating a bank account to receive sponsorship funds. You’ll recognize the board members from the past and present volunteer page.
