About Women in Data Science
The Women in Data Science (WiDS) initiative aims to inspire and educate data scientists worldwide, regardless of gender, and to support women in the field.
WiDS Puget Sound is independently organized by volunteers in conjunction with Diversity in Data Science to be part of the mission to increase participation of women in data science and to feature outstanding women doing outstanding work.
​WiDS started as a conference at Stanford in November 2015. Soon after, volunteer ambassadors took WiDS around the world by organizing similar conferences in their communities under the WiDS umbrella. As the WiDS community grew, WiDS added additional year-round programming in education, innovation and leadership to strengthen community connections, and support, educate and inspire women everywhere.

Support the Team
The WiDS Puget Sound team is made up entirely of volunteers who dedicate months of planning to coordinate the conference and other events. Every dollar raised helps ease the burden on them a little bit. Our nonprofit organization, Diversity in Data Science (501c3), can now accept donations.
